The website Tenderme first came to my attention with Ben Dunne’s radio advertisements for the company. First of all the radio ad was advertising the company as Tenderme.ie. To me, this has a nice ring to it and it has an Irish domain name. For marketing purposes this makes marketing a website like this a little bit easier. The problem with this site arose shortly after when they started advertising the site as Tenderme.com. Why the change? Straight away they have been sending out mixed messages.
Now they seem to be stuck in a situation where they have duplicate websites. They have both a .com and a .ie website. The content is the same on both. This is obviously a big no no when it comes to SEO. The Google PR is being split between the 2 websites. The .com version has a Google PR of 2 and the .ie version has a PR of 1. They have been promoting the .com version lately but it is the .ie version that appears in search results for ‘Tender me’. If they want to run this website properly then choose one main domain –either the .com or .ie and 301 redirect the other site to the selected site.
As a side note……for an online company there seems to be a criminal lack of online marketing taking place on this site. I am not going to go into any more detail in this post but correctly done, this site could rank highly for hundreds of products and services. This would obviously drive a lot more quality traffic and money through their site. If they spent half the money they spent on radio advertisements on their online strategy then they would receive far more traffic. The results of a strong Internet marketing campaign last much longer than a short run radio ad. This should really be obvious to all online companies.
